Mountain Brook Fly Rods

FIBERGLASS RODS

Like bamboo, there is another fly rod that is just a pleasure to fish with.  When I was a little kid trailing behind my Dad and Grandfather through the mountains of Pennsylvania to those hidden little streams, they were carrying beautiful fiberglass fly rods.  When my Dad, or “Pappy” as he was known, would hook set a brookie, and hand me the rod, I remember how the glass rod would seem to bend all the way to the reel, and how I could feel the fight of the fish all the way to the cork handle.  When I would watch them cast it was a beautiful sight to see the slow sweeping motion of the rod and line being presented to the fish.

There has been a resurgence of this rod in the fly fishing industry today because of those reasons mentioned above.  In a time where technology is pushing for the best and fastest material, there is still something to be said to slow things down a little and enjoy the moment.  As I get older I appreciate the art and traditions a lot more, and is the reason why "Mountain Brook Fly Rods" is striving to fly fish "the way it used to be".

Pine Creek 7 foot 6 (olive)   $60.00

A new glass blank I am offering with my others. This is just a great blank in a beautiful olive color, with a buttery smooth casting action.  This has been well received by rod builders. It’s what I call my Pine Creek Series blank, and the description is in the other blank listed (brown).  It’s similar in taper but you can throw a 6wt with this one, or a 5 depending on wind conditions or your liking.  These are all high quality glass blanks at a fraction of the cost.

Pine Creek 7 foot 6 (olive)

Native Brook 6 foot 6 3 piece (tip over butt)olive   $60.00

A new model I am offering in a beautiful olive color.  A magnificent little glass rod that is just a pleasure to cast.  It compares to my native 4 piece spigot ferrule that I also have in my line of blanks. A great small stream  fiberglass fly rod.  I have made rods from these blanks for the small cutthroat streams of the west, and to the great native brook streams in the mountains of Pa and West Virginia.  Just a great little rod and is just a little faster than the 4 piece spigot, however not stiff, still a full flex blank.
